After looking back at the Skepta x Levis campaign and what It actually meant I began to see how a campaign on this scale would work, and how it would look.

Skepta’s focus is on bringing music as an accessable platform to the youth. This makes it feel more like the artist is at the heart of the campaign, wich is good for levi’s and better for skepta.

So with my campaign I want to build a brand that is centered around the UK Hip hop and grime scene, so it lives and breethes the culture. I may have a passion for UK music but I don’t think I understand the scene well enough yet, so where do I start with my research?

  • Current Brands and how they associate with culture
  • What brands are associated with the UK music scene?
  • How has American Hip Hop Culture affected the UK? (Like Skepta collaborating with flatbrush zombies & Stormzy finding his fame in the USA, Big shaq etc)
  • UK Hip hop Cities, London, Manchester, Brighton, Cardiff, Nottingham, Bristol etc

The grime artist and the iconic denim brand are working together to inspire the music creators of tomorrow

Influential Grime MC and proud north Londoner Skepta is collaborating with Levi’s on the brand’s new youth outreach project, designed to engage young people with the music industry.

As part of the collaboration between Levi’s and the V&A’s You Say You Want a Revolution? Records and Rebels 1966–1970 exhibition, Skepta performed at the museum on Tuesday night and will be partnering with the iconic denim brand as part of the Levi’s Music Project.

Skepta’s involvement will kick off with a music space set-up in his local community centre in Tottenham, providing young people living locally with an insight into all aspects of the music industry, and advice from Skepta and other industry experts. Following this, a performance will be put together for the V&A event.

As an area that Skepta grew up in and which heavily influences his work, he said, “I feel blessed to be the guy that is, with Levi’s, giving back to the community and making this whole thing happen for the youth.”

The wider project has been created to give young people access to music education and inspire the next generation of musical minds. Speaking about this, the MC expressed how “the Levi’s Music project is game-changing. It’s going to show that you can change lives through music, that you can start a revolution.”
